Caddo special needs kiddo left on bus all day

Here's the story: http://www.ksla.com/Global/story.asp?S=11349809

Earlier this week, I got a call into the newsroom of a little girl that was left on the bus all day. But, this wasn't just any little girl, she had down syndrome. The bus driver and attendant were immediately placed on administrative leave after they phoned into supervisors to tell them they had discovered the girl later that day. Still, there's no excuse for this kind of stuff. In the past, I've reported on another issue with CPPS neglect to special needs kids. Why does this keep happening to those that need the most attention?

Should Employers Employ Convicted Felons?

Today I did a story on the trucker shortage on America's roadways. A guy called in the newsroom today to say that the reason why their is a shortage is because they won't hire convicted felons. He says he can't get his hazardous materials license either, because of 9/11 tighter rules.

My question is, don't all places have strict rules about hiring convicted felons? What do you think, should employers hire them? After all, everyone gets a second chance -- even Michael Vick!

Hello and Welcome!

Hey guys,

Welcome to my blog. I've been off the web for quite a while now and finally feel the need to re-connect with the folks that are out there that actually read this stuff. Haha! I've recently been settling in at my new job at KSLA News 12 in Shreveport, LA.

Working there has been great so far. I am getting to know the region (as they call here the Ark-La-Tex) and getting to know the movers and shakers here. It's definitely been interesting.

I've already covered a lot of different topics and love that my job is NEVER the same from day-to-day...one day I could report on helmets for kids with flat head syndrome, the next could be something totally different like airport layoffs or a shot longhorn. I love my job.

Feel free to comment, send story ideas, suggestions, comments...anything. You're the viewer and I'd love to hear from you.
